Blackwatch (Allies) vs. AxisSpec

USSR 4

Ukr 2 inf v
11 inf Kar, 1 arm Per
10 inf, 1 arm capture
What is this Komrad Kaptain? The Jerries have left us a perfectly good AA gun??
They've heard how our tank crews shoot, and probably figure that we could do more damage to ourselves than they could ever hope
to.

After a series of email exchanges, it was decided that the Germans really hadn't planned to leave the AA gun in the Ukraine after all,
and it was returned to them. After which....

UK 5

Somewhere about 3 floors below 10 Downing Street.

"Admiral Fudgepacker-Smythe, that cretin in the Kremlin has done it to us again!
He GAVE a perfectly operational AA gun back to Adolf's minions. Does he think this war will be won with sportsmanlike behavior?"

"But Prime Minister, we have it on good word that Stalin personally spiked the gun before sending it back! And my name is
Fudgepicker-Smythe."

"In that case, Fudgepecker-Smythe, you won't mind flying in the first squadron to take it back, will you now? On your way!"

EEu 10 inf, 1 allegedly spiked AA gun v
5 inf Nor, 3 inf, 1 arm UK, 3 ftr UK, 1 arm Norway
8 inf, 2 arm, 3 ftr v 10 inf, AA
Fudgepicker-Smythe is the first one down in flames, all in all an unmitigated disaster, holds with 1 inf, AA.

Game 6621, tage@ vs. Hugo_Keizer@

EK ~ I haven't a clue....but your spelling is atrocios.

Game 5880, Dread Squid vs. AbuMulch

Very happy Luftwaffe pilots...

ES ~ ...usually means very unhappy French women.

Game 7285, TennesseeRazorbacks v. bmf63

Yeah, I'll go ahead and move 1 US ftr to RUS.  Maybe instead of Kursk we'll have Hakin Gol or Nomonhan.

***Oh great! Now you are forcing me to do research! I can't find anything about Hakin Gol, but I did find some stuff on Nomohan. I will refute that "duty is weightier than a mountain" and that "death is lighter than a feather" as mass suicide is not currently in the plans. If I must, I shall bow in honor to my victor, but the new scientists I have are constantly reminded of the failure of their predecessors by the postings of large pictures of their fate. Draconian you say? So be it, for the divine wind must blow and the light of the sun that shines through yonder window to the east is merely the spirit of my noble japanese warriors.

...well...something like that at least....

EK ~ Isn't Hakin Gol something like hagis?

Convention 2000 game, AARommel vs. Komp

I remember (maybe you were there) when the group was into a group discussion on several topics.  At the time I was playing
AARommel (at least I was sitting across from him).  The group discussion turned to WD, it's pros/cons, cost versus value,
etc.  I stated (since I was being blasted by AARommel) that "I'd have to borrow money to buy Weapons Development rolls."
Anyone who has played AARommel has felt this way so the group could relate to how I was feeling.

EK ~ I know precisely how you felt, Komp.  I also had the misfortune of merely 'sitting across the table' from AARommel. :)

Game 7473, EJGusto vs deBruce

Ger  SBR w 1BMB
Ger - $6            It's a bird,  It's a plane,  no! it's a bunch of Polish slave laborers launched into the air...

SS ~ Hey! White men can't jump.

Game 7475, JohnPin vs hoquista

JohnPin - Thanks for the game...I hope I give you a nice challenge,
I've been getting my butt kicked by higher ranked players.."

John Pin replies:   You are very fortunate.  I get my butt kicked by players of all ranks...

Game 5786, Komp vs Spud

Attack #2--Germany
1 bmb Cauc, 2 bmb UK for SBR
vs
aa

*KA-BOOM..death from above..30 IPCs damage. German army goes door to door selling weinerschneitzel to raise money to re-build*

Game 6306, EJGusto vs. Leone@

Combat
Attack 1 trns in FWA sz with 1 BMR from Germany

Result: Both killed. Question is...did the bomber hit first and the trns hit on its way to the bottom? Or did the trns hit first and the BMR crashed into the trns? We'll never know.....

EK ~ Or did a certain stranger in armour give himself a very bad headache trying to figure it out?

Game 5566, jdenec@ vs. Ertu

Hitler shakes his head as the Lufftwaffe returns home at 50 percent strong. "You fools!!! You cannot even carry out a simple mission. One transport fleet in the Atlantic, just one, and you fail to sink them!" "Commander, execute these men!!"

ES: Apparently Hitler doesn't like losing those FTR vs. TRN battles any more than we do.

Game 3958 TheCorpse@ vs. hcarmbru@

2. Americans liberate and save Montreal hockey team from Japanese occupation just in time for Stanley Cup Playoffs. (W Ca)

EK ~ Unfortunately, Stalin orders all Russians over 16 into active military service and Montreal is left with only 2 players...

"This is a real air raid; this is no sheet!" (Edited)

This was the urgent message relayed to the sailors aboard the USS Oklahoma on December 7th, 1941.  The man responsible for this important public announcement was  Captain Herbert F. Rommel (USN, Ret.), known to the members of IAAPA as HerbertFox.  Herb is probably the only member who actually participated in the very real events which we simulate in every game.

Now,  how did a guy named Rommel ever end up on one of those floating tin cans in the first place...?

Two members of IAAPA, with the real life occupations of police officer and taxicab driver, recently completed an email game.  The police officer played the Allies, and the opening Russian move was so utterly devastating to the Axis forces that they had no realistic chance of recovery.   The taxicab driver finally conceded after the UK2 turn.

A couple days after winning this game, the police officer was 'running radar' and clocked a guy doing 52 in a 30 MPH zone.  As he approached the vehicle he realized that it was a taxicab, and not being very fond of cab drivers, he thought to himself, "Strike One!"  When he looked at the cabbie's license he was surprised to see that the speeding cab driver had the same first name as his recent A&A opponent.....and.....in the police officer's own words:

I thought a minute and said to him, "Dude, I need to ask you a personal question.  There's something that I just HAVE to know."

He looked at me kind of funny and said, "I guess so.  What?"

I asked, "Have you been beaten by a bunch of Russians lately?"

He had this real weird look on his face with his mouth open as I gave him his warning and sped off.

I wonder how long he will ponder that one.

I'd guess that the poor guy is still sitting by the side of the road scratching his head... :)

Editorial by DeBruce

In case you didn't know it there is a 'decline' option in the reply to challenges section.  Ignoring people and making them wait weeks for a reply, really makes you look bad.  Most people don't want to get too many games going at once, so if you challenge someone, and he don't answer you, you're left hanging without the ability to play for a while...just because someone didn't take the 45 seconds or so that it takes to decline a challenge.  Karma exists, and the way you treat people, is how you will be treated.  So improve your own quality of life, by treating others with more consideration.  It takes a while to work off the bad karma, but if you do you'll be amazed at the difference.

If Your silence is through no fault of your own than I humbly apologize. Take care and good luck in your future games.

One of your victims,

DeBruce

I had a major crash on my EK account in Netscape and lost everything.  I could have recovered from that, but several RL things kept me pretty busy and inhibited my computing abilities temporarily, so I took the easy way out with a Greatest Hits edition. :)

I hope you enjoyed this collection, except for Silex, because he doesn't like anything I do....but who cares?   Although he designs pretty good websites, he sucks worse than me at A&A.  And, oh, according to the Windows 98 manual, a Web site is defined as "a group of Web pages."

Until next month.

hey can you tell me if there are eny players out there who want to play im sick of beating the aa computer game
                                  ~ kbm

EK:  Sure!  There's this club called IAAPA...and they have a few players who are even better than the CD's Generals!  I sure wish EYE could beat the CD-ROM Generals...

Hi guys!! Great job you're doing!!  Thanks for producing 'Havoc', I bust a gut reading it every month!!

                             ~ Phil (Herr_Schmidt)

EK ~ You're obviously more easily amused than defeated. :)

Just read the Havoc, and the piece about JohnPin's bomb raids. I was the recipient of an even worse raid, in a game against zwoof@ (which I won ;), which I enclose below. He was allies, I was axis, and the USA bombed Jap owned Karelia:

Heavy Bombers: 4,3,6,3,5,1,2,6,2,1,3,1,5,3,4,6,5,4,2,6,3,4,4,5,4,6,4,2,4,6
(Total damage: 114 IPCs)

                                     ~ Spud

EK ~ You darn Canucks always have to outdo us Yanks, eh?  How the heck did you ever recover from a bombing raid like that, anyway?  Oooops.  Never mind.  I've seen you play before...unfortunately. :)

Next issue, to poke a little fun at your mailing problems, you could refer to yourself as "Error Knight."

Have a good one,
Chris (KidPilot)

The last log I did took over an hour to do, and it wasn't worth the time.  I am leaving the club because of this requirement.

                                     ~ AARommel

EK:  You could use my method of avoiding this requirement.  Lose every game.

P.S.  I'm glad he changed his mind about leaving. :)

I would like to play a simpile game of A&A.Right from the box with out biddding can that be done?

                                     ~ name withheld

EK ~ I don't know. Will your big brother let you in his room?

I always wondered if this move would be of any value.

USSR 1- buy 1 BB in Caspian Sea

                                           ~  Tel Intel

EK ~ Absolutely!  I think you should try it in your next game.  (I'm just waiting for you to accept the challenge from the website.)
