**** FROM THE BUNKER 7/28/96 **** Greetings Cyber-Warriors! Once again your club government brings you the latest on all the goings-on in the worlds largest and greatest Axis & Allies gaming club. The elections are over and the brief chaos that accompanies a change of command is over. As always we have a lot of new information, stats, and commentary. If there are any articles you would like to submit for consideration for the club newsletter, please send them in. I know we have some creative writers out there. That being said, let's get on with it. ** FROM THE SGM's DESK ** First order of business is to congratulate our newly elected officials. Taking the helm of the Appeals Court and continuing on in his role of Games Coordinator is your new DSGM, Vampire999. We could not have asked for a more dedicated person to do the job. The 6 positions on the Appeals Court were won by the following outstanding club members: ChrMcD - New Player Representative and Internet Coordinator Leodar - Ranking Czar & Tournament Director LORD PEZ - Rules Lawyer STATKMAN - Club Statistician Dave52779 - First Term. Club Recruiter HocyGoaly - First Term. Conference Czar We also have 3 assistants that we use for special projects around the club. Legonuts, Beaverhut & CPNeifert. Thank you gentlemen for your hard work to date. AOL News: The Axis & Allies Club will soon be moving to a new and improved area within the Online Games Forum. This new Wargamers Forum will put us closer to the main OGF page and should give us a lot of benefits.... including a Keyword for easy access. The target date is sometime in August. If any of you have A&A related artwork or pictures you think would look good in our new area, please forward them to me. OK, now I'm going to let the other guys talk. <> The player pool is organized now by player speed. If you wish to be added , removed, or have any questions about the player pool don't hesitate to e-mail me at Vampire999@aol.com. For all you new members, the club has 4 tourneys it sponsors on an annual basis: the Spring and Fall Classics, the OPEN, and the Invitational. The 1995 Fall Classic CHAMPIONSHIP round began less than two weeks ago, pitting two Axis and Allies Club Officers: General Rewstr vs. Lieutenant Leodar. Each defeated several top 10 opponents from a field of 32 players en route to this awesome showdown. The 1996 Spring Classic Quarterfinals began July 1st. The winners of these games will face off in the Semifinals in September. The 1st Annual OPEN Tourney began in March. Now well into the 2nd round, a field of 64 began the competition with high hopes. Of the 16 seeded players, only 1 was ousted in the first round. Please visit the TOURNAMENTS folder on-line for details. Notices for the 1996 Fall Classic will go out late next month. I have had quite a few questions from people regarding the AOL free time for GM's. Here is the formula. For every two games an AOL member completes as GM, they get one free hour of AOL time. This is also awarded for AOL members who keep the game-folders updated for our Internet GM's. Remember, this free time is for both processing turns and keeping the folders updated. If you let your folders die, you will not receive credit. Well, that's all we have for everyone right now. Keep an eye out for a new conference schedule for August. We will get it out to you as soon as it is confirmed by our OGF support staff. If you haven't been to a live conference yet.... check it out. You won't be disappointed. Respectfully, VAGRUNT@aol.com SGM :: From our Newest AC Member :: Ladies and Gentlemen, This newsletter is intended to give those of you who have just finished their first game a little guidance. You just finished your first game and you're saying "now what?" First, you can become a member of the Players Pool, which is a list of players who wish to play another A&A game, or can be thrown into the GM Pool, which is a list of people who can GM an A&A game. To get into the Players Pool or the GM Pool, simply mail VAMPIRE999 and ask to be put into either or both Pools. Second, your options of how you want to play open up vastly. You can play anybody in the entire club. If you want to play a four star general, be my guest. There no restrictions on who you can and cannot play, as long as your opponent agrees to play you. By the way, a good idea to see who you might want to play against is to look at Leodar's "AACRS" which gives you the record of each A&A member who has completed at least one game. Dave52779 Club Recruiter and... Distributor of the Word. Good job Dave and thanks. ~V~
