AMERICA ONLINE A&A CLUB FROM THE BUNKER 01/13/97 Hail Electronic Warmongers! The title of our unfettered update becomes most appropriate as the club forges through a time of difficulty. I am happy to relate that although shell- shocked, your club government has resumed full operations. There should be no further disruptive mass mailings flooding your electronic mailboxes. If you continue to receive unsolicited and unwelcome e-mails on the subject, you may forward them to screen name: TOSEMAIL1@aol.com with your complaint. ~From the Cluttered Desk of the SGM~ Due to the recent turmoil, we have had a delay in developing the new programs designed to make this club more accessable and interesting for everyone. Be assured that those programs are now once again underway, and I hope to give you some positive progress reports in the next 'Bunker' update. Of particular interest is a beta test of an internet protocol chat room that both AOL and our internet members can use to have live conferences. If you haven't stopped by the Wargamers HQ chat room lately, there seems to be a regular weekend game running live in there. Anyone can set up a live game by sending in the participating players and seperate bids to Todd Vomit@aol.com for game number assignment and bid winning statement. The guidelines governing live play can be located in the newest version of the club rules. Now let's hear from our newest Games Coordinator, or as some call him.... The Minister of War. Take it away Todd Vomit! (gotta love that screen name) Greetings Warriors, I am now the person to see when you need a game number and GM. I will try to match you up with a GM of equal or greater speed when possible. I will be refining the processes by which GMs are selected and will need some help from you all. As you may know our club roster is enormous and with many of us playing in multiple games at once, we all need to GM our share of games to keep this the most exciting A&A Club on the internet. I'll be asking you all to rate your selves in both speed and number of games you can handle at once. When I assign you to GM a game please CC me with the Bid Results so I will know the game is underway and who is playing who. Also please include me in the game completion mailing so I can close out the game properly. You may have heard the BUZZ going around about some cool new variants and techs. That's right NEW TECHS and VARIANTS. I have posted them in 2 parts in the strategy folder of the general discussion area. I did however make 1 mistake in my typing....the German Weapons Labs acheive success on a 5 or 6 not 5 or less. What German Weapons Labs?......Check out the posting and try em out! Internet members may E-mail me for a copy if you don't have access to our message boards. ToddVomit Games Coordinator Thanks TV! Now on to LT Leodar, our Ranking Czar. (yeah yeah, it rhymes) <<<<<<<< Ranking Czar's Corner >>>>>>>> 'Tis the season for resetting the records, and I'm busily preparing the AACRS for it's 3rd season. Remember, if you have a discrepancy with your record, please direct mail to me. Do NOT report gamefinishes to me; we have a chain of command remove duplication. However, some of your games do not make it to me, and it is up to you to follow up your record. Any improvements or suggestions are welcome. I remain your club's servant, LT LEODAR <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Great! Now on to Vampire999, our honorable club DSGM and manager of the Player Pool. The floor is all yours Marc! The player pool is organized by player speed. The players listed below are currently looking for a game and if you need an opponent send out a challenge to one them. Keep an eye out for the next announcment which will have all of the final information. Topic Selection.... I am currently leaving this up to YOU the member!! Just send in what you would like to talk about, and it will go on the conference topic list. Currently response to this is very low, so you have a good chance to see YOUR topic discussed very soon. Now a word from our Rules Lawyer, Lord Pez. It's your witness. ---===Pez Sez===--- As many of you grizzled veterans may have noticed, Lord Pez your AOL A&A Rules Lawyer works incrementally. Clarify a little bit here, tweak a little bit there and slowly evolve a more comprehensive set of rules. With the recent completion of the Version 3.0 Club Rules, your humble servant gets to shift his attention to our Version 2.0 GM's Handbook. In the following months you can expect Rules Lawyer clarifications of the GMing process followed by a Version 3.0 GM's Handbook. Can you feel the excitement!? Today's topic -- Error Correction To date, official club policy concerning error correction has been "GM discretion." If a player mistyped a battle or a GM misrolled a result it was up to the GM to decide how to resolve the error. With over 250 players and almost as many GMs, this has lead to a great deal of confusion. Everybody had their own unique method. Well my little minions, we now have an official Error Correction policy. No longer do GMs have to wing it and hope their players don't complain. TURN RESULTS ERROR CORRECTION: 1. Game Master Errors -- to facilitate double checking of turn results, GMs are expected to list *all* die rolls. If a GMing error is discovered the GM is expected to reroll the affected results. Accordingly, if a battle is misrolled at any point, the GM will reroll that *entire* battle in question (though not the entire turn). Technology rolls are to be treated in a similar manner. 2. Player Errors -- if a player attempts an illegal battle (incorrectly lists the units involved, brings in unavailable units, etc.) then one of two options must be chosen: A. The attacking player may request that the battle in question be rerolled using the correct units. No changes to non-combat orders or other battles may be made if this option is chosen. B. The attacking player may request that the entire turn be invalidated and resend an completely new turn. Since it's a completely new turn the attacking player is not bound by any previous turn orders. Technology rolls will be treated in a similar manner. And there you have it -- short and sweet eh? Next up -- what to do with those illegal non-combat orders. As always, send your rules questions and comments my way, LordPez@aol.com ---===Pez Sed===--- Thanks Pez! Now a word from our Knight Errant, and official coordinator of the upcoming..... ~WAR IN THE DESERT~ Las Vegas, Nevada Memorial Day weekend, warriors! May 23-25 will be our First Annual Face-To-Face AOL A&A Club Conference!! Here are some details and highlights... This history-making shindig will be taking place at the excellent Palace Station Casino and Hotel. A block of rooms have been reserved at $79.00 a night, double occupancy ($89 for 3 adults), with a 3-night minimum requirement. (fri-sat-sun) For the games, we will have a Hospitality Suite where warring can take place day and night! Curfews, you ask?? Puh-shaw. :) Hahaha, not in the City of Lost(battle)Wages! There will, however, be a nominal charge for attendance to cover some costs, but it should not go over a $20.00 bill. And if we get a large turn out, then this cost will go down accordingly. So, Keep your ear to the bunker, as more details shall be soon forthcoming. For those who think they might be interested, or would just like to hear more about the Con, write to yours truly, ~Q~, or catch me sidled up to the bar in the A&A Headquarters (in Wargamers Chat Room). I'll be happy to tell you of all the exploits and particulars that are being planned, and send promotional material. Yup yup, Gotta do A&A the Vegas Way!!! Truly, ~Q~ Thanks Quixande! Well, that about covers it. I just want to thank Dave52779 who stepped in and covered the New Player Rep job while beaverhut was away from the computer. That was most appreciated! Until next time, Respectfully I Remain ~Vagrunt~ SGM
