Gentlemen,

The IAAPA Herald speaks! Comments welcome, criticisms will be dealt with acordingly.

John (Blackdog)
Greetings from Ye Olde Swillhouse. Thanks go out to Squire for informing me as to its whereabouts.

Were you aware that four of our finest warriors are taking part in the Axis and Allies World Championship? This is an epic battle involving members of IAAPA, AAMC, DAAK and Spring. They are duking it out to find out who is the best Axis and Allies player on the net...or at least who has the luckiest dice. AAMC is off to a strong start, while our reps have stumbled a bit coming out of the gate. It is still early in the conflict and I hear talk that we will soon be moving up in the standings. The following link will take you straight to the action:

At the time of this writing, there have been five installments of "Snapshots in Time" posted on the IAAPA E-zine page. What? You haven't looked at them yet?! On the 20th of every month, I compile a list of all members who have posted a win or loss in the club. The list is sorted by rating, running from highest to lowest, with win/loss records and ranking points included. Players are also given a number designating their position on the ladder, including last months placing and the highest place held (since April, 2002) "Snapshots...", as well as all of the other fine E-zines that have been published, can be found here:

Highlights from Snapshots...

When this endeavor first began in April, we had 176 members with at least one game finish posted. As of August 20th, that number has climbed to a respectable 203 members, with many rookies waiting their turn to join our ranks. The lowest rate held in April was 1061. That rate has held fairly steady, with a brief jump to 1068 and currently stands at 1060. The brawls at the low end are no less exciting than the scrapping that goes on for the high rates.

Speaking of those high rates...how about that KenBell! He has held the top spot in all five months, starting with a rate of 1434 in April and holding an incredible 1455 at this writing. Highcmmdr has been doggedly holding down the second spot for the same period of time. But KenBell has increased his lead with an average 1 point gain per month. The rest of the Top Ten for August is as follows:

3 Byrons Brigade 1416 38-14
4 TELITEL 1415 39-25
5 WarlockLH 1397 23-5
6t Starchild 1388 69-31
6t Col.Hogan 1388 28-6
8t mat27@ 1386 25-6
8t JBell 1386 39-13
10 Nieles 1380 20-3

There have been quite a few games racked up by that group, but who is the most prolific player in IAAPA? That award has to go to: Einstein with 243 games recorded.

The winningest member is GIJim211 with 103 wins! Congratulations to our first and only centurion.

Concerned about all of those losses that you have been gathering lately. How about taking a look at the highest placed player who has a losing record? GroeFaz is currently tied for 32nd place, with a win/loss record of 54-58. Or how about BlackWatch. 50 wins. 50 losses. Yet he is one place away from being in the top 20!

Them young upstarts: Here are a couple of guys to watch out for, or maybe to set your sights on. They are the players that are in the top 50 with 1 loss or even have gone undefeated. In a tie for 48th place is Elind, with a record of 7-0. Just four places higher is Crozier at 7-1. But the number one target is still Diecaster, sitting in 13th place with an impressive record of 17-1. There are a few more hard chargers that are on their way with an undefeated record, but let's see if they have the stamina to keep it going. I'll leave it to you to seek them out and either stop them in their tracks, or perhaps assist them on the rise to glory.

Oops! I think I here them coming to lock up my keyboard. See you next time...
